REVISED RFP – Queensbury Adaptive Signal Control Technology Feasibility Study

REVISED 4/12/2022 The Town of Queensbury, in collaboration with A/GFTC, has been awarded grant funds by NYSERDA for an Adaptive Signal Control Technologies Feasibility Study within and around the Aviation/Quaker Road corridor in Queensbury, NY. This feasibility study is intended to identify innovative signal-timing solutions to congestion management in and around the Aviation Road/Quaker Road corridor in Queensbury, New York. The study will analyze the feasibility of Adaptive Signal Control Technologies (ASCT), comparing ASCT to traditional signal timing improvements in terms of efficacy (changes in starts/stops, wait and travel times, etc.), potential reduction in greenhouse gases, ease of implementation, co-benefits, life cycle costs, and sustainability regarding operations and maintenance.

Funding Available — Section 5310 Program

The NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) recently announced that the next round of the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program (Section 5310) is now available. The goal of the Section 5310 Program is to improve mobility for seniors and individuals with disabilities by removing barriers to transportation services and expanding the transportation mobility options available.

The program provides financial assistance to agencies which provide transportation services for seniors and individuals with disabilities. This includes the purchasing of buses, vans, wheelchair lifts, ramps, and transit-related technology systems, as well as enhanced transportation projects including travel training, volunteer driver programs, and mobility management.

Public comment – draft annual work program

The draft A/GFTC Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) for State Fiscal Year 2022-23 is available for public review and comment. The UPWP is listing of planned staff, committee, and consultant activities intended to support and advance regional transportation planning objectives. The draft program is here. Comments or requests for hardcopies of the plan may be submitted to info@agftc.org or via conventional mail to A/GFTC, 11 South Street, Suite 203, Glens Falls, NY 12801. Comments will be accepted through February 15, 2022.

TIP Project Solicitation

A/GFTC is currently updating its Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), the five-year roster of planned federally-funded investments in the surface transportation network. We are conducting a solicitation for federal aid – eligible highway, bridge, public transportation, and bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects to be considered for programming for Federal Fiscal Years 2022/23 through 2026/27.

Project applications must originate from municipalities that own and operate qualifying transportation infrastructure, so please contact your municipal elected officials or A/GFTC staff if there are specific issues or project concepts that you would like to see addressed in the capital program. DRAFT North Road Pedestrian Feasibility Study

The draft North Road Pedestrian Feasibility Study is now available for public comment. This draft examines the feasibility of various pedestrian and bicycle facilities for the section of North Road between Gray Avenue in the Village of Greenwich to the Thunder Mountain Recreation Area entrance within the Town of Greenwich. Comments may be submitted via email to jack@agftc.org until December 3, 2021.
